“first time daddy sees his 3 week old”
He’s looking at her like she’s made of gold.

Today I stepped on the scales for the first time in a long time. It’s against the rules, see so I try to be a good girl. And do you know what? I didn’t see a number. I didn’t see flashing lights or a message to go out and jog for an hour or fast for two days. I saw that I was worth more.
I stepped off the scales and into the shower with a smile on my face.
I feel well.

“It’s hard to accept, but you can’t change the past. You can’t go back and manipulate things to the way you wanted them to happen. But you can change the future, and that’s a beautiful thing about life. Yes, you will make mistakes. And yes, you will have bad days - but as long as you let the past go, you’ll have such a gorgeous and bright future ahead of you knowing that things were meant to happen; knowing that each day you will learn something so that you keep growing to be a better person. Life is like a rope, twined in all its complexities and yet woven into one marvelous stream that you have the chance to use and create something amazing from. So grab hold of it.” Anna Matthews
You know what, even if I could go back in time and change the past I don’t know that I would. Firstly because I wouldn’t even know where to begin. But mostly because my past, although it nearly broke me, has made me who I am today. I’m not perfect. Nor will I ever be. But I am myself and I have realised that that is all I can be because it is all that I have.
Besides, despite the past, there’s always the future to look forward to. My future. Your future. It will be what you make of it. It could be a repeat of your past or it could be bright and glorious. Your choice. Do with it what you will.

“When you’re a beautiful person on the inside, there is nothing in the world that can change that about you. Jealousy is the result of one’s lack of self-confidence, self-worth and self-acceptance. The Lesson: If you can’t accept yourself, then certainly no one else will.” Sasha Azevedo
If you don’t trust yourself, be confident of your own abilities, accept that you are simply you (for better or for worse) then I don’t see how anybody else possibly could. We need to be confident despite our mistakes, be assured of our worth despite those who try to bring us down, believe we are beautiful despite our flaws.
When you are at peace with yourself, then and then only, will you be at peace with the world around you.

“Anyone can give up, it’s the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that’s true strength.” Unknown
A lot of the time I feel like giving up. I guess I figure that life’s not worth it, but really when I open my eyes, when I start listening instead of just hearing, I know it is. We have to keep going. We have to have hope. You know, we could live about 40 days without food, three without water, and maybe 5 without air. But you know what? You can’t live even a single second without hope.
Hold on. Stay strong.
And most of all, don’t ever, ever lose hope.

“The butterfly counts not months, but moments and has time enough.” Rabindranath Tagore
Sometimes I think we are wrong to measure time in minutes, days, hours. They pass too slowly, too quickly. We are always waiting for tomorrow, wishing it was still yesterday. We are never satisfied.
But what if we stopped measuring life in terms of how far we’ve come and how long we have to go. What if we starting thinking in moments, in golden times, in moments that make you happy.
Remember the happy times. Live for them. Forget about the rest. Don’t waste time waiting for things that may never come. Live in the moment. Live here, live now. Be alive.

“… and then the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” Anais Nin
Inside the cocoon is safe, comfortable. Nothing can hurt you there and for a long time it seems that you never want to be any different. But then one day, quite unexpectedly, you realise that it would be a whole lot easier to just let go than to keep holding on to yourself, onto your wrappings and cocoon.
Let go of the things that hurt you. Take a risk. Blossom.
I think you’ll find it’s worth it.

“There comes a time when you have to stand up and shout:
This is me damn it! I look the way I look, think the way I think, feel the way I feel, love the way I love! I am a whole complex package. Take me… or leave me. Accept me - or walk away! Do not try to make me feel like less of a person, just because I don’t fit your idea of who I should be and don’t try to change me to fit your mold. If I need to change, I alone will make that decision.
When you are strong enough to love yourself 100%, good and bad - you will be amazed at the opportunities that life presents you.” Stacey Charter
You are you - no matter what you’ve done or where you came from. You are an individual and don’t ever let anybody convince you otherwise.

“All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible.” T.E. Lawrence
I am a dreamer of the night, eyes tightly closed, fists closed, dead for all intents and purposes. When I wake up there is a brief, but golden moment, a time when the gauze flutters at my windows and I am not yet awake enough to remember that there are things I would rather forget.
You know, maybe that’s my problem. Maybe that’s why all the out-the-window-starers, day dreamers at school end up succeeding in life, being the happiest people. Maybe it’s because they’ve learned that dreams only come true if your eyes are wide open.
Maybe I should try it. Maybe you should too.
